The head mount provides the best angle for surfing. Problem is the head straps come off way too easily… Problem solved: kck.st/1wbGtNG

24 hours? i have seen people go surfing in the next few hours from doing this?

  • Bernd Schwanenmeister March 9, 2014 - 3:55 pm

good instruction until minute 1:45: if you attach the leash like that it won’t help if the black part breaks. You should rather attach it to the metal bar which holds the back door.

  • skmydkyafag October 6, 2013 - 10:09 pm

No but I read that someone has and when the waves got too strong, it ripped the camera off the foam :(

  • Gonçalo Trindade September 25, 2013 - 2:58 pm

The Leash wasn´t on the right place.

  • Paul Thomas August 9, 2013 - 7:51 pm

would you recommend having the floaty backdoor?

  • skmydkyafag July 11, 2013 - 5:29 pm

Crap, I have a foam surfboard

  • Lucas Via July 9, 2013 - 7:01 pm

Waiting 24 hours allows for the mount to bond. While it doesn’t seem like much “bonding” is happening a chemical bond is actually being formed between the 3M adhesive and the board. For that reason, it is wise to let it sit for 24 hours before use. Putting it on in the parking lot before paddling out greatly increases the risk of your camera coming off.

  • Lucas Via July 9, 2013 - 6:58 pm

Most shortboards do not have a flat enough surface for the entire mount to adhere to the board. If you place the surfboard mount on a board like this, do so in a location where you can get as much of a bond as possible. Since there is still risk involved, use the floaty backdoor and be sure to tether the camera to the tether piece for added safety.

you want to be sure the mounts are firmly attached to the board. You don’t want it to pop off and lose your gopro!

  • Reece Bouman July 7, 2013 - 2:06 am

will it make a difference if the sides of the thing that holds the mount are not stuck to the board? please help need to know before i surf!!

  • BItChSlaP1o1 July 3, 2013 - 11:00 am

    Word. Thanks

  • Silber Studios July 3, 2013 - 10:50 am

doubtful, but check with Gopro. It might not be able to adhere and would pop off = lose your gopro = no fun.

  • BItChSlaP1o1 July 3, 2013 - 10:13 am

WILL THIS WORK ON A FOAM BOARD?

  • Silber Studios July 1, 2013 - 3:28 pm

Doesn’t seem you can easily reuse, but check on GoPro site

  • kelvin kline June 27, 2013 - 11:26 pm

is it possible to be taken off? and re used?

  • Ronan Rodrigues June 5, 2013 - 6:12 pm

Do I really need to wait fo 24 hours? I am renting a surfboard on a trip and I won’t have this time as the board is not mine…
